David Brown received the land from the U.S. Government 3 Aug 1816.(from the GEDCOM of John E. Griggs.)

Based on the above land transactions, it appears that John and Mariah Griggs moved from Sussex County, NJ to Perry County, Ohio sometime between 17 Mar 1820 and 10 Apr 1820.
John married Mariah (Mary) VAN NEST daughter of John VAN NEST and Anny. Mariah was born 1 on 1 Dec 1782.
39 F ii Sarah Ann GRIGGS was born 1, 2 on 5 Jan 1779. She was christened 3 on 28 Feb 1779 in the Readington Dutch Reformed Church in Hunterdon Co, NJ . She died 4 on 18 Dec 1844. She was buried 5 in The Griggs Burying Ground, Flemington, Hunterdon County, NJ.

Aaron married 1 Sarah SMITH on 14 Dec 1815.
41 M iv Dr. Daniel GRIGGS was born 1, 2 on 6 Sep 1782 in New Jersey. He was christened 3 on 29 Sep 1782 in the Readington Dutch Reformed Church in Hunterdon Co, NJ .

There is little known published information about this Daniel Griggs other than in Walter S. Griggs’ book “Genealogy of the Griggs Family”, which on page 47 of that book he states: “DANIEL, born September 6, 1782, started to California 1849; died on the way.” However as a result of reviewing various censuses from 1830 through 1860, it appears that Daniel was a Doctor and married (1) Martha Goble and (2) Elizabeth ________, and had possibly 8 children. Daniel and Martha moved to Perry County, Ohio sometime between 1820 and 1830, where Martha died. Daniel then married Elizabeth and moved on to Schuyler County, Missouri, sometime between 1840 and 1843, where they had two additional children. Unfortunately, neither Daniel or his wife Elizabeth can be found after the 1850 census nor have their graves been located in Schuyler County. Perhaps this is when and where Daniel started for California.

There is some question as to weather the above Elizabeth and her two children were the wife and children of Daniel. If Elizabeth was Daniel’s second wife, she would have been 28 years his junior and Daniel would have been 60 and 65 years old when the two children were born. Therefore, it is possible that Elizabeth could have been some other unidentified member of the family and not Daniel’s second wife. However, to date, that identification has not been made.
Daniel married 1 (1) Martha GOBLE on 13 Oct 1803 in Sussex County, NJ. Martha was born 2 on 17 Jun 1783 in Hardwick, Warren County, NJ. She died 3 in 1831/1840 in Perry County, OH.
Daniel married 1, 2 (2) Elizabeth ____?____ in 1831/1840 in Perry County, OH. Elizabeth was born 3 in 1810/1811 in Pennsylvania.
  42 M v George GRIGGS was born 1, 2 on 25 Jul 1785.

There was a George Griggs that was baptized on 17 Oct 1784 at the Readington Dutch Reformed Church in Hunterdon County, NJ whose parents were listed as Barent Griggs and his wife Nelly. Benjamin Griggs and Eleanor (Nelly) Lane had a son George Griggs who was born 25 July 1785, thus it appears that the transcriber of the baptismal record at the Readington Dutch Reformed Church mistyped Barent for Benjamin and that the year 1784 was typed rather than the correct year of 1785.
George married 1 Abigail NORTHRUP daughter of Joseph NORTHRUP and Lucy PRICE on 6 Sep 1807.
  43 F vi Jemima GRIGGS was born 1, 2 on 13 Jan 1788.
Jemima married 1 William DAVIS on 12 Nov 1806 in Sussex County, NJ.
  44 F vii Margaret GRIGGS was born 1, 2, 3 on 20 Feb 1790. She died 4 in Jul 1870.
Margaret married 1, 2 John HARRIS on 14 Jun 1819. John was born 3, 4 on 16 Jan 1787 in Worcester, England. He died 5, 6 on 22 Mar 1870.

15. William GRIGGS (John , Benjamin ) was born 1 estimated 1755. He was christened 2 on 21 Apr 1793 in Conewago Reformed Dutch Church, York County, PA as an adult.

William Griggs and Jannetie Wyckoff apparently first settled in Neshanic, Somerset County, NJ, where their first three children were baptized at the Neshanic Reformed Church. Sometime prior to April of 1793 the family moved to Conewago, York County (now Adams County), PA where William, as an adult, was baptized on 21 April 1793 at the Conewago Reformed Dutch Church. The following month their youngest son, Jacobus, was baptized at the same church.

William married 1 Jannetie WYCKOFF.

They had the following children:

45 M i Abraham GRIGGS was christened 1 on 2 Dec 1787 in Neshanic Reformed Church, Somerset County, NJ.
46 F ii Annatie GRIGGS was christened 1 on 1 Mar 1789 in Neshanic Reformed Church, Somerset County, NJ.
47 M iii John GRIGGS was christened 1 on 3 Jul 1791 in Neshanic Reformed Church, Somerset County, NJ.
48 M iv Jacobus GRIGGS was christened 1 on 12 May 1793 in Conewago Reformed Dutch Church, York County, PA.

18. Samuel GRIGGS (Samuel , Benjamin ) was born 1, 2 about 1749 in South Ward, New Brunswick, Middlesex County, NJ.

Samuel married 1 Jannetje WILLIAMSON daughter of Jocobus WILLIAMSON and Marya. Jannetje was christened 2 on 15 Jun 1751 in the Six Mile Run, Dutch Reform Church, Somerset County, NJ.

They had the following children:

49 M i Samuel GRIGGS was christened 1 on 17 Jan 1773 in the Six Mile Run, Dutch Reform Church, Somerset County, NJ.
50 F ii Margrietje GRIGGS was christened 1 on 21 Oct 1778 in the Six Mile Run, Dutch Reform Church, Somerset County, NJ.
51 M iii Samuel GRIGGS was christened 1 on 18 Mar 1781 in the Six Mile Run, Dutch Reform Church, Somerset County, NJ.

Apparently the Samuel who was baptized on 17 Jan 1773 died and a second son was named Samuel after his paternal grandfather.
52 F iv Eida GRIGGS was christened 1 on 30 Mar 1783 in the Six Mile Run, Dutch Reform Church, Somerset County, NJ.
53 M v William GRIGGS was christened 1 on 17 Jun 1787 in the Six Mile Run, Dutch Reform Church, Somerset County, NJ.

19. Albert GRIGGS (Samuel , Benjamin ) was born 1, 2 on 12 Mar 1752. He died 3 on 30 Apr 1830.

Albert married 1, 2 Anna CORTELYOU daughter of Albert CORTELYOU and Helena BLACK on 7 Dec 1774. Anna was born 3 on 28 Jul 1756. She was christened 4 on 15 Aug 1756 in the Six Mile Run, Dutch Reform Church, Somerset County, NJ. She died 5 on 21 Oct 1830.

They had the following children:

  54 F i Mary GRIGGS was born 1 on 21 Sep 1775.
  55 F ii Jane GRIGGS was born 1 on 27 Feb 1778.
56 M iii Albert GRIGGS Jr was born 1 on 6 Oct 1782. He died 2 on 7 Sep 1868.
Albert married 1 Katharine VAN PELT daughter of Jacob VAN PELT and Maria DAVOUST on 19 Feb 1812 in Cranbury First Presbyterian Church, Cranbury, Middlesex County, NJ. Katharine was born 2 on 9 Dec 1785. She died 3 on 3 Jan 1837.
57 M iv Helen (Lany) GRIGGS was born 1 on 30 Jun 1788.

The family bible of Albert Griggs, Jr. and Katharine Van Pelt records the following as the children of Albert Griggs and Anna Cortelyou: Mary, Jane, Albert, Lany, Samuel and Jacob. In the book “The Cortelyou Genealogy: A Record of Jaques Corteljou and Many of His Descendants”, by John Van Zandt Cortelyou, it reports the following as their children: Albert, Jane, Helen, Mary, Samuel and Jacob. Although “Lany” is not a known nickname for “Helen”, it is assumed that both records are speaking of the same child.
        Helen married Unknown.
58 M v Samuel GRIGGS was born 1, 2 on 10 Sep 1792. He was christened 3 on 17 Mar 1793 in Cranbury First Presbyterian Church, Cranbury, Middlesex County, NJ.
  59 M vi Jacob GRIGGS was born 1 on 20 Feb 1799.

20. Benjamin GRIGGS (Samuel , Benjamin ) was born 1, 2, 3 in 1755/1756 in South Brunswick, Middlesex County, NJ. He died 4, 5 on 8 Jan 1842. He was buried 6 in the Brainerd Cemetery at the Cranbury Presbyterian Church, Cranbury, Middlesex County, NJ.

The children of Benjamin Griggs and Anna Schenck have been determined by using the children and the grandchildren that are included in the will below, and the baptismal records of the Cranbury First Presbyterian Church and the New Brunswick Reformed Dutch Church, both in Middlesex County, NJ. However there are two grandchildren mentioned in Benjamin's will that have not been accounted for: they are Sarah Combs and Ruth Pipete. It cannot be determined if these two grandchildren are the children of other unknown daughters of Benjamin and Anna or if they are the children of an earlier marriage of one or more of the known daughters. Most likely they are the married daughters of Mary Griggs who married Richard Jacques.

The following is the will of Benjamin Griggs:
BENJAMIN GRIGGS, of South Brunswick, Middlesex County, will of, dd. 25 Aug 1837:

Benjamin married 1, 2 Antje Garretse SCHENCK "Ann" daughter of Garret Koertse SCHENCK and Neeltje VAN VOORHEES on 12 Jul 1778 in Monmouth, Monmouth County, NJ. Antje was born 3, 4, 5 on 15 Oct 1756 in Monmouth, Monmouth County, NJ. She was christened 6 on 14 Nov 1756 in Dutch Reformed Church, Freehold, Monmouth County, NJ. She died 7 on 8 Feb 1833. She was buried 8 in the Brainerd Cemetery at the Cranbury Presbyterian Church, Cranbury, Middlesex County, NJ.

They had the following children:

60 F i Jane GRIGGS was born 1 on 29 Nov 1779 in Princeton, Mercer County, NJ. She was christened 2 on 28 Sep 1780 in Princeton, Mercer County, NJ. She died 3 on 11 Feb 1865. She was buried 4 in Freehold, Monmouth County, NJ.
Jane married 1 Garret Gerretse VANDERVEER on 27 Dec 1796 in Raritan, Somerset County, NJ. Garret was born 2 on 10 Jul 1773 in New Jersey.
61 F ii Mary GRIGGS was born estimated 1778/1781. She died before 25 Aug 1837.

No baptismal record can be found on Mary, nor is she mentioned in the will of her assumed father Benjamin Griggs, husband of Anna Schenck. However, Benjamin does mention a grandson named Benjamin Jacques. Thus, it is assumed that Mary had passed away prior to the writing of the will and that she was the Mary Griggs who married a Richard (Jaquish) Jacques on 26 Dec 1798 in Middlesex County, NJ. In addition the two unidentified granddaughters, Sarah Combs and Ruth Pipete, in the will of Benjamin Griggs are most likely the married daughters of Mary Griggs and Richard Jacques, but no primary evidence has been found to document this relationship.
Mary married 1, 2 Richard (JAQUISH) JACQUES on 26 Dec 1798 in Middlesex County, NJ.
62 F iii Sarah GRIGGS was born 1 in 1785. She died before 25 Aug 1837.
Sarah married 1 (1) Vincent WETHERILL son of John WETHERILL and Mary MESSLER on 19 Jan 1803 in Cranbury First Presbyterian Church, Cranbury, Middlesex County, NJ. Vincent died before 16 Sep 1812.
Sarah married 1 (2) William H MOUNT son of Hezekiah MOUNT and Mary PATTERSON on 16 Sep 1812 in Cranbury First Presbyterian Church, Cranbury, Middlesex County, NJ.
  63 M iv John S GRIGGS was born 1 in 1789.
John married 1 Margaret WYCKOFF daughter of John WYCKOFF and Eleanor CONOVER on 2 Jul 1817 in Cranbury First Presbyterian Church, Cranbury, Middlesex County, NJ. Margaret was born 2 on 20 Apr 1793.
64 M v Reuben GRIGGS was born 1, 2 in 1789/1790. He was christened 3 in Cranbury First Presbyterian Church, Cranbury, Middlesex County, NJ. He died on 1 Aug 1868. He was buried 4 in the Brainerd Cemetery at the Cranbury Presbyterian Church, Cranbury, Middlesex County, NJ.
Reuben married Sarah GULICK daughter of Henry GULICK and Catherine COVENHOVEN. Sarah was born 1 in 1803/1804. She died 2 on 20 Jun 1862. She was buried 3 in the Brainerd Cemetery at the Cranbury Presbyterian Church, Cranbury, Middlesex County, NJ.
65 F vi Anna Schenck GRIGGS was born 1 on 10 May 1792. She was christened 2 on 10 Jun 1792 in Cranbury First Presbyterian Church, Cranbury, Middlesex County, NJ.

Anna was apparently married prior to her marriage to John Dumont, because in her father's will he mentions her son Ellwood Henry Brown.
        Anna married (1) Unknown BROWN.
Anna married 1 (2) John DUMONT on 1 Dec 1813 in Cranbury Presbyterian Church, Cranbury, Middlesex County, NJ.
66 M vii David Williamfe GRIGGS was born 1, 2 on 10 May 1792. He was christened 3 on 10 Jun 1792 in Cranbury First Presbyterian Church, Cranbury, Middlesex County, NJ. He died 4 in 1819.

The Dutch had a habit of “feminizing” male names because of the importance of carrying on the grandparent’s given names. Perhaps in this case they took a feminine name, Willemptje, and made a masculine name out of it, Williamfe. Thus, David Williamfe Griggs might have been named after his paternal grandmother, Willemptje Terhune.
David married 1 Maria Schenck BERGEN daughter of John I. BERGEN and Mary MERSHON on 19 Sep 1816 in Cranbury First Presbyterian Church, Cranbury, Middlesex County, NJ. Maria was born 2 on 27 Sep 1797. She died 3 on 26 Oct 1824.
67 F viii Catherine Perrine GRIGGS was born 1 on 10 May 1792. She was christened 2 on 10 Jun 1792 in Cranbury First Presbyterian Church, Cranbury, Middlesex County, NJ.
68 M ix Benjamin GRIGGS was born 1 on 1 Dec 1797. He was christened 2 in Cranbury First Presbyterian Church, Cranbury, Middlesex County, NJ. He died before 25 Aug 1837.

Neither Benjamin nor his children are mentioned in his father’s will, thus he apparently died without issue prior to the writing of his father’s will on 25 Aug 1837.
69 F x Margaret GRIGGS was christened 1 on 26 Dec 1798 in New Brunswick Reformed Dutch Church, Middlesex County, NJ.
Margaret married 1, 2 Anthnoy CARSON son of Robert CARSON and Susan APPLEGATE on 22 Mar 1815 in Cranbury First Presbyterian Church, Cranbury, Middlesex County, NJ.
70 M xi Joseph Schenck GRIGGS was born 1 on 1 Sep 1800. He was christened 2 on 23 Nov 1800 in Cranbury First Presbyterian Church, Cranbury, Middlesex County, NJ. He died before 25 Aug 1837.

Neither Joseph nor his children are mentioned in his father’s will, thus he apparently died without issue prior to the writing of his father’s will on 25 Aug 1837.

24. Daniel GRIGGS (Barrent , Benjamin ) was born 1 on 17 Jul 1762 in New Jersey. He was christened 2 on 14 Aug 1763 in the Harlingen Reformed Church, Harlingen, Somerset County, NJ.

The names and birth dates of Daniel, Margaret, their children and the husband of Jemima were obtained from notes taken by a Daniel V. Predmore from a Predmore Family bible owned by a Frank Predmore of Michigan. Daniel V. Predmore did research on the Predmore Family back in the 1940’s and 50’s and his research files are presently located at the Philadelphia Genealogical Society Library.

Daniel married Margaret ____?____. Margaret was born 1 on 21 Jul 1760.

They had the following children:

71 M i Barnet GRIGGS was born 1 on 4 Feb 1784 in New Jersey. He was christened 2 on 18 Apr 1784 in the Readington Dutch Reformed Church in Hunterdon Co, NJ . He died 3 on 5 Sep 1864 in Trafalgar Township, Halton County, Ontario, Canada.

According to the book "Oakville and the Sixteen, the History of an Ontario Port" by Hazel C. Mathews, Barnet Griggs and his brother George emigrated from New Jersey to Canada with a group of Loyalist friends in about 1811. Barnet and his wife Nancy made the trip on horseback, with a grandfather's clock strapped to the side of one horse.
Barnet married 1, 2 (1) Nancy ROGERS on 2 Jul 1808 in Sussex County, NJ. Nancy was born 3 about 1788. She died 4 on 23 Aug 1860.
Barnet married 1 (2) Christine (CHISHOLM) MCKENZIE on 27 Jul 1861 in Hamilton, Wentworth County, Ontario. Christine was born about 1796 in Ontario, Canada. She died on 28 Mar 1872.
72 M ii George William GRIGGS Sr was born 1 on 1 Apr 1786 in New Jersey. He died 2 on 10 Oct 1860 in Trafalgar Township, Halton County, Ontario, Canada. He was buried in the Oakville Town Cemetery in Halton County, Ontario, Canada .

According to the book "Oakville and the Sixteen, the History of an Ontario Port" by Hazel C. Mathews, George William Griggs, Sr. and his brother Barnet emigrated from New Jersey to Canada with a group of Loyalist friends in about 1811. In a paper written by Hartley Frederick Patterson Grafton in 1962 entitled "Grafton Family History" (hereinafter referred to as “Grafton”). He states that Barnet Griggs apparently went directly to the region of Oakville in Halton County, Ontario, while George went first to Dundus in Wentworth County, Ontario before he and his wife Mary settled in Oakville. This is confirmed by land records in Wentworth County when a George Griggs purchased Concession 1, Lots 53 and 54 near Dundus from William Rymal in 1815 and later, in 1821, sold the same land to Timothy Pomeroy. (“Ancaster’s Heritage”, Vol. 2)

The following story relates to the “Rebellion of 1837”: "David Patterson, George's son-in-law, was a Captain in the Militia and was engaged at the skirmish at Montgomery's Tavern when William Lyon McKenzie was defeated and had to flee for his life hoping to get across the American Frontier before the troops caught him. He was being persued very closely when he came to the home of George Griggs. Although George was a staunch Conservative and had no use for the Rebellion, he was reluctant to see McKenzie captured and executed, and so took him into hiding in his own home. Because of his well known Conservative tendency, no one thought of looking here for the rebel leader and when the search passed on, Wm. Lyon McKenzie did also. Eventually he made his way across the border, into the U.S. While living in the states, his daughter was born. She became the mother of W.L. McKenzie King, who was Prime Minister of Canada for a greater number of years than any other man has ever been Prime Minister in the history of the British Empire, but had there been no George Griggs in Oakville at the right time, there would have been no Wm. Lyon McKenzie King." (“Grafton”)

The will of George Griggs, Sr. dated April 2, 1860 and proven on January 12, 1861 names heirs: wife Susan, daughter Jane - wife of William Ashman, living in Michigan, daughter Margaret - wife of John Forman, living in Esquesing Township, Halton County, Ontario, son Barnet Griggs- living in Michigan, daughter Nancy - wife of David Patterson, living in Oakville, Halton County, Ontario, son George Griggs- living in Michigan, daughter Mary Ann - wife of John Knowlton, living in Oakville, Halton County, Ontario, son Daniel Griggs- living in Mersea Township, Essex County, Ontario, daughter Jemima, wife of Francis Birdsall, living in Toronto Township, Peel County, Ontario. (Halton County, Ontario Surrogate Court Probate Book A, page 261 - 263, Item #143).
George married (1) Mary ____?____. Mary was born on 16 Mar 1789 in New Jersey. She died on 28 Oct 1852 in Trafalgar Township, Halton County, Ontario, Canada. She was buried in the Oakville Town Cemetery in Halton County, Ontario, Canada .

Who George William Griggs, Sr.’s first wife was is still in question. Based on her headstone in the Oakville Town Cemetery in Halton County, Ontario her first name was “Mary” however her maiden is unproven.

In a paper written by Hartley Grafton in 1962 entitled "Grafton Family History", Hartley states that her maiden name was "MacArthur". He cites his source for this information as the sister of his grandmother Agnes (Patterson) Grafton who was the granddaughter of George William Griggs, Sr. However, in contradiction to this information, family oral history indicates that her maiden name was "Schwackhamer." Unfortunately no primary source documentation has been found to support either of these names.
George married (2) Susan after Oct 1852.
73 F iii Jemima GRIGGS was born 1, 2 on 17 Nov 1790 in Hardyston Township, Sussex County, NJ. She died 3 on 10 May 1866 in Oakland County, MI. She was buried in Evergreen Cemetery, Orion Township, Oakland County, MI.
Jemima married 1, 2 Joshua PREDMORE son of Daniel PREDMORE and Sarah Elizabeth CASE on 2 Jul 1809 in Sussex County, NJ. Joshua was born 3 on 16 Jan 1784 in Hamburg, Sussex County, NJ. He died 4 on 23 Aug 1854 in Brandon, Oakland County, MI.
  74 M iv Aaron GRIGGS was born 1 on 1 Feb 1793. He died 2 on 28 Aug 1877.
Aaron married Mary SMITH daughter of Edmund SMITH and Mary FISHER on 25 Jul 1832. Mary was born 1 on 9 Jun 1793 in Ancaster Township, Wentworth County, Ontario. She died 2 on 30 Apr 1870 in Hamilton, Wentworth County, Ontario. She was buried 3 in the Smith Family Farm, Glanford Township, Wentworth County, Ontario.

(Transcription of the reporting of the inventory of Derrick Griggs, this document is located at the New Jersey State Archives in Trenton, NJ.)

Derrick married 1, 2 Elizabeth WHITLOCK daughter of James WHITLOCK and Jane CRUISER on 13 Feb 1788. Elizabeth was born 3, 4, 5 on 29 Jan 1768 in Perth Amboy, Middlesex County, NJ. She died 6 on 6 Jun 1851. She was buried 7 in the Brainerd Cemetery at the Cranbury Presbyterian Church, Cranbury, Middlesex County, NJ.

They had the following children:

77 M i Benjamin GRIGGS was born 1 on 25 Nov 1788. He died 2 on 8 Nov 1852 in Kingston, Somerset County, NJ. He was buried 3 in the Kingston Presbyterian Church, Kingston, Somerset County, NJ.

Benjamin, along with his brother-in-law Cornelius G. Hoagland, attested to the inventory of his father Derrick Griggs' estate on 9 Jun 1841.
Benjamin married 1 Marion (Mary Ann) PATTERSON on 8 Jan 1814 in Somerset County, NJ. Marion was born 2 in 1792. She died 3 in 1872 in Kingston, Somerset County, NJ. She was buried 4 in the Kingston Presbyterian Church, Kingston, Somerset County, NJ.

Based on her headstone at the Kingston Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Kingston, Somerset County, NJ Marion was first married to Jacob Snedeker.
78 F ii Jane GRIGGS was born 1, 2 on 5 Mar 1791 in Dayton, NJ. She died 3 on 23 Jun 1868 in Cranbury, Middlesex County, NJ.
Jane married 1 Samuel PERRINE son of Andrew PERRINE and Mary MOUNT on 19 Jun 1816 in Cranbury First Presbyterian Church, Cranbury, Middlesex County, NJ. Samuel was born 2 on 27 Aug 1792 in Cranbury, Middlesex County, NJ. He died 3 on 14 Aug 1845 in Cranbury, Middlesex County, NJ.
79 F iii Elizabeth Johnson GRIGGS was born 1 on 1 Jan 1793. She was christened 2 on 17 Mar 1793 in Cranbury First Presbyterian Church, Cranbury, Middlesex County, NJ.
Elizabeth married 1 Samuel Longstreet DEY son of John W DEY and Ann LONGSTREET on 6 Jan 1813 in Cranbury First Presbyterian Church, Cranbury, Middlesex County, NJ. Samuel was born 2 on 12 Dec 1790. He was christened 3 on 23 Feb 1792 in Cranbury First Presbyterian Church, Cranbury, Middlesex County, NJ.
80 F iv Jemima GRIGGS was born estimated 1794/1799.

Based on the traditional Dutch naming pattern, Derrick and Elizabeth should have named a daughter Jacomyntje/Jemima after her paternal grandmother. Although her baptismal record has not been located, there was a Jemima Griggs who married a Joseph Dey at the First Presbyterian Church in Cranbury, NJ on 15 Dec 1824. Although there is nothing to tie this Jemima to Derrick and Elizabeth Griggs, I have included her as a child of Derrick and Elizabeth based on the fact that one of her two known children was named Elizabeth Griggs Dey, perhaps after her maternal grandmother Elizabeth (Whitlock) Griggs.
Jemima married 1 Joseph DEY on 15 Dec 1824 in Cranbury First Presbyterian Church, Cranbury, Middlesex County, NJ.

It is unclear which Joseph Dey Jemima Griggs married. The following are two Joseph Deys that were baptized at the First Presbyterian Church in Cranbury, Middlesex County, NJ: Joseph, b. 8 Jul, son of John & Anne DAY on 18 Aug 1793 and Joseph, b. --- Apr, son of John L. & Catharine DAY on 24 Aug 1793. Both of these Joseph’s fathers were named John and thus either could be the namesake of their second child John.

She died 3 on 10 Feb 1872 in South Brunswick, Middlesex County, NJ. She was buried 4 in Pleasant Plains Cemetery, Franklin Township, Somerset County, NJ.
Margaret married 1 Cornelius Gulick HOAGLAND son of Elbert HOAGLAND and Catharine GULICK on 11 Feb 1829 in Cranbury First Presbyterian Church, Cranbury, Middlesex County, NJ.
